Volunteer opportunity description

We’ll Meet Again is a twice yearly event where volunteers play an important role in assisting school visitors to learn about life during WW2. The schools sessions are run by Education Officers. Our volunteers interact directly with visitors between sessions whilst guiding groups.

Requirements

This role would suit someone who has an enthusiastic and friendly manner and a love of history, learning and dressing up (although you don’t need to be a specialist in the GWR). You must enjoy meeting people, and operating as part of a team.

Main Duties

• Costumed guiding of school groups between sessions ensuring timely arrival.

• Talking to school groups in a structured manner between sessions.

• Imparting knowledge in a friendly and interactive manner between sessions.

• Working in conjunction with Learning Team staff.

• Assist Education Officers with handling sessions using museum objects.

• Answering questions from children and teachers.

We’ll Meet Again is a two week school event in March and October each year. Ideally, a We’ll Meet Again Volunteer will be available for a minimum of two days in the two week event.

We are recruiting for March 2018 in the first instance: Monday 5th March - Friday 9th March.
