A little time makes a BIG difference

Over the last year, Swindon Circles has matched over 100 volunteers with isolated older people across Swindon.  Our volunteers are aged from 18 to over 80 and do a little or a lot depending on the time they have to give.  It feels great to be able to support local older people who for lots of different reasons find that they are not able to go out and about as much as they used to.

Fred, aged 100 has a visit from Ruth – they have a regular cup of tea and a chat and Ruth reads the paper to him. Bryony visits her local care home to take Rose out for a short walk. Sometimes they sit outside in the garden, and enjoy a sing song together. Our volunteer Pete visits Mike every week who relies on a wheelchair.  Pete takes Mike to the gym after which they have a coffee.

So whether you’d like to visit someone in their home, or you’d like to visit a local care home, we have lots of older people who would love some company.  Registration is simple.  You can do this online at www.swindoncircles.org.uk or email swindoncircles@swindon.gov.uk or telephone 01793 465401 for further information.  We would love to hear from you.  You can visit on your own, as a couple or even as a family.  Join our volunteer team today.
